TIPS ON TRAIN TRAVEL IN SCANDINAVIA – YOUR QUESTIONS ANSWERED
Do I have to pay extra for seat reservation? (Passes) |
Reservations are not mandatory on all trains, but where it is possible, we recommend a reservation during busy periods. Payment of supplement is required on some trains (e.g.X 2000 (Sweden), Pendolino S220, InterCity Plus (Finland), and for Komfort Class on Norwegian regional trains.

Can I bring my pet onboard? |
On many Scandinavian trains you may bring your pet onboard, and they even have special compartments/seat sections for this. The main reason for not bringing our pet onboard, is due to people who suffer from allergies. Check with your local train operator for details.

What is a ”travel day”? |
One travel day generally lasts from midnight to midnight. If however, a journey starts with a train that leaves after 19:00, the next day's date may be inserted in the date field on the ticket.

How much baggage is allowed? |
There are no weight limitations on baggage. You are really limited by what you can easily carry and board. Most trains have an overhead storage rack along with luggage areas at the end of the car. Baggage is the sole responsibility of the traveler as the railroads will assume no responsibility in case of loss or theft. We recommend that you travel light! However, please note that you must keep aisles free from baggage at all times.
